I would consider what Tyler did to Raymond as a positive effect that deviance serves to society. I think this because although Raymond believed his life was threatened Tyler had no true intention on killing him because if he did the gun would have been loaded. All the gun did was serve as a way for Tyler to get his point across to Raymond. The only reason Raymond hadn't become a veterinarian was because of the limitations he set on himself, and what Tyler did was push him through those limitations; he only set him out to fulfill his original dream so I do think this was a positive effect that deviance has on society.
In the scene that we viewed with Tyler, jack and Raymond was an example of a deviant act that was working positivly for society. What tyler did to the man gave the man a oportunity to look at his life as crap. it gave him the chance to notice to value his life and stop working in a bad job and go to school agian and work at what he really want to do.
I would say that the scene in Fight Club with Tyler and Raymond was a posativley devient act on society. It might of been the wrong thing to do because Raymand did get scared but i dont think that Tyler had any intention on killing him. Tyler just wanted Raymond to look at his live another way and become what he wanted to be. Tyler wanted Raymond to fallow his dreams. It mad Raymond look at his life in another way and how he could do more with his life if he became a veterinarian.

Tyler Durden committed a deviant act that was working positively for society. Raymond K Hessel was working a worthless job and living a worthless life because all he did was exist, instead of actually living out his life. He choose the approach of just lying back and seeing the world pass him by. Tyler Durden, although in a somewhat violent way, brought this point across to Mr. Hessel. He scared Raymond into getting on with his life and doing something with it. This way of "life-counseling" as brazen as it looked, pushed Hessel to try and reach his goal. Hessel will now become a powerful weapon in our society, instead of shrinking back into a nobody and staying neutral.
What Tyler did to Raymond was a deviant act that may have a positive effect on society. This is becuase he changed that mans life, he got him to go back to school and do what he planned to do origanally. However i feel that he was completely out of line in what he did, there was no reason that he had to put a gun to his head and threaten him. It was not his place or his decison on how Raymond chose to live. How does he know that Raymond didnt change his mind on the vet idea for other reasons, maybe he had no interest in it anymore, maybe he couldnt afford college for one reason or another. He had no idea about Raymonds life and had no right intruding on him like that. Not only was that a deviant act, but he was breaking the law by going into his store and putting fear in Raymond and trying to make him do something that he did not plan to do. Making someone change their life like that may look like a good idea, although it was done in a completley wrong way cancelling out all positive effects it will have on him or the society.
This scene in Fight Club shows that Tyler committed a devient act but worked positivley for society. The gun Tyler had didn't even have any bullets in it, so he wasn't intending on killing or shooting Raymond. Tyler made Raymond tell him what he did with his life which is being a store clerk even though he wanted to be a veterinarian. The only reason why Tyler threatened him was to make Raymond think about his life and to pursue what he wants to do which is to be a veterinarian.
I think that the scene in the movie Fight Club with Tyler, Jack and Raymond was no doubt a deviant act, but i feel that it was positive for society. Even though Tyler went into the store and forced Raymond out at gunpoint, which was the deviant part, the value behind what he was telling him to do is the positive for society. Tyler knew that Raymond could have such a better life than he had working in that convenience store, and telling him to go back to college and do what he has always wanted to do, i believe would drive Raymond to do this, especially becuase be probably would have never done that if Tyler had not come along. I believe that this was the good that Tyler was finally doing for people's lives, even though it is in a deviant way.
I believe that what Tyler did was a positive deviant act. Raymond was a man who worked as a cashier he was going no where, he dropped out of school because it go to hard. Tyler showed Raymond that lifes to short and at any second he could die, Tyler doesn't want to see Raymond wasting his life, he wants Raymond to better himself and finish school as a Vet, Tyler knows that Raymond will like his life alot better when he starts a career.
I think what tyler did to raymond is a negitive affect that deviance serves to society. Even though it "set Raymonds priorities straight" it was still in a deviant way. Would you like that to be done to you? No one should be put in that situation, yea it helped him but it was still wrong of tyler to put him in that situation.
I believe that Tyler committed a deviant act that worked positively for society. Tyler scared Raymond into getting on with his life. He had made Raymond realize what he had missed, and what he could do to improve his life, into something he enjoyed and that was his carrier and how he chose to lead it. In my opinion, Tyler had inspired Raymond into making a better decision, he pushed him towards his goals.
What Tyler did to Raymond was certainly working as positive for society because he forced Raymond to finish what he started and live the respectable career he hoped for as a veterinarian before deciding to work at a convenient store. This would make him an integral part of the society he lives in, hence it being a positive effect. On the other hand, Tyler's method of achieving this could be argued because he pulled this man out of work and threatened him, threatened him not only with words which are enough to cause upheaval, but with a weapon. Whether it was loaded or not does not matter up to a certain point, because even so much is enough to label what Tyler did 'deviant'. Also, Raymond happens to live in a 'cramped apartment', as Tyler observed so its safe to assume that he isn't very well off so the cost of more schooling could also have been a reason as to why Raymond didn't bother moving further. If this is possibly the case it could have a corrosive effect on Raymond, not only psychologically, but also financially. Tyler terrorized Raymond, but at the same time made him more aware of his life and how he was squandering it away. People often talk about being successful and helping others to achieve the same thing because for some that thirst tends to falter, and that's what Tyler did but his method was simply different. Rather than being solicitous, he chose to be assertive disregarding Raymond's reasoning.
I think that Tylers act was deviant but it was also positive for society because in Raymonds case he will try to achive what he thought was to much work. Having something like this happen to you really puts your prioritys where they should be. I think that because he had an empty gun shows that he had no reason or intention to hurt or kill Mr. Hessell but to try to give him motivation to live out his goal/dream.So yes it was deviant but it will help him out over all
In the last scene that we saw when Tyler and Jack go into the convenience and take Raymond out and Jack puts a gun to him. I believe that this is a huge deviant act. I believe though that this deviant act worked more positively then negatively. Even though you can't just go around holding a gun to someones head. It worked positively because it gave Raymond another chance to be a successful person and fulfil his childhood dream. It gave him another oppertunity, it gave that extra push, the push he need because he had set limitations to his life before. Even though it was not Tyler's intent to kill raymond nor was the gun loaded it gave Raymond that extra push he needed. I believe that people sometimes need this push so they don't just settle for things and they go forward and try to fulfil there dreams.
I think that there is value in what Tyler did because i do believe that Raymond's life will be better, he will value life more and work to make the most of it, in a sense his eyes have been opened. I do not however at all condone Tyler's action becasue it is just too far out of the norm and illegal, becasue he threatened someone's life. There are other ways to give people eye opening experiences maybe by viewing others lives both more fortunate and less fortunate in close detail or sharing of a story. But there are ways to accomplish the same goals in a much more socially accepted way and still obtain the desired outcome!
In this scene, I think that the way in which Tyler acted was an example of deviance working as a positive for society. I believe this because it was deviant for Tyler to go and point the gun at Raymond's head and threaten him, but as a result of this, Raymond reconsidered his life and this event forced him to change it for the better. This event encouraged Raymond to do something with his life and not just stop at being a convienience store worker. This scene basicly helped Raymond to realize that life is too short, you never know what can happen to you, so you should make the best of it. So even though Tyler acted in a very deviant manner, he actually accomplished a positive thing for society.
I beleive that what he did was devaint because he did hold a gun to Ray's head, whether or not it was loaded the message he sent to ray was that he was "going to kill him". I think that this would have a positive effect of society thought because ray will continue on his path to becoming a vet and he could help many peoples animals if this happens.
I believe that what Tyler did to Raymond was devient. It is cleary devient to lhold a gun to another persons head and threaten thier life. On top of that Tyler robbed him, he took his licence. although Tyler tried to do a good thing by geting Raymonds life back on track, but Tyler shouldn't have done it in such a violent way. Because of what Tyler did Raymond wil constantly be in fear until the next time he returns to check up on him. In summation what Tyler was trying to accomplish wasn't deviant, but the way he went about doing it was indeed deviant.
I would consider what Tyler did to Raymond to be a deviant act actually doing good for society. Raymond will now have his life back on track and instead of living a poor life, he will go to college and work to become someone better. Tyler made this man realize that his life is worth more than he was treating it. The gun that Tyler used was just a way to get the point across to Raymond on how seroius Tyler was. I do not believe that Tyler's actions were deviant to society.
I believe that what Tyler Durden did to Raymond K. Hessell was an example of deviance working as a positive for society. Tyler scared Raymond so much that I would be very surprised if Raymond did not go back to school to become a veterinarian. He was probably so thankful to not have his life taken away from him that he would want to take advantage of it and do the best that he could from that point on. Tyler said something in this scene that really explained how grateful Raymond probably was. He said that Raymond's breakfast would taste so much better than theirs in the morning because he would be so happy to be alive. Although what Tyler did was out of the norm, I believe that for Raymond, it was the best thing that could have possibly happened to him.
Although Tyler's act was extremely deviant, it was also a good example of deviance working as a positive for society. By holding a gun to Raymond's head, Tyler forced Raymond to appreciate his life and get back on track. Now Raymond will hopefully treat everyday as if it was his last because he knows how close he came to losing everything. Tyler was the push that Raymond needed to turn his life around. In a twisted way, Tyler only trying to help. I think it worked positively for society since now Raymond will go to school instead of being lazy and giving nothing back to society.
I think that what Tyler did was a postive deviant act towards society because he helped change Raymond's life. At the time it didn't seem like Tyler was helping him out but in the end when Raymond knew that he wasn't goning to die he understood more. It gives a new point of view on life when you have a near death experience. I know it would change my life if someone threatened to kill me; i would change right away.
What Tyler and Jack did was deviant but was a good for society. I have to say this because it got Raymond to think about his life and how valuable ti really was. Raymond started working at a conivinence store and didn't care about school. When Brad pitt was holding his gun to raymonds head raymond culdnt think about anything but his life and this made him change...

I believe that what Tyler did to Raymond is deviant to a certain extent. The thought that Raymond might have actually been killed should shock have shocked him and changed his life forever. If deviance could be a positive aspect of society, then this act of threatening with no intention of murder would be it. It ended up being a positive outcome with some messy parts in the middle.
I think that what Tyler did to Raymond was definitely wrong, but it had a positive effect on Raymond. Tyler had good intensions by doing what he did because he wanted Raymond to do something with his life and be successful. Even though nobody should ever have a gun pointed at them, Tyler did it for a good reason and hopefully Raymond got the message that he needed to get a "move on" with his life.
i think that tyler did a good thing to raymond. He did it in a nonconventual way that most people would think is devient. But lokk at what relly happened. Raymond was never hurt. Tyler never hit him or punched him and he definetly didn't shoot him. He just scared him and gave him the push he needed. Also raymond will most likely sign up for college corses now. There for he will be fofilling his dream of being a veternarian. so he might have been devieant but positive out come that will come from this out wieghs the negative event. And thats the real truth.
I think that what Tyler did to Raymond Defiantly was deviance with a positive effect on society. By threatening his life, he encouraged Raymond to become a better person, and fulfill his dream of becoming a Veterinarian. This therefore helped his family, and countless other people who would be affected by Raymond’s new position in society. I don't think that Tyler ever would have really Killed Raymond. It was an open threat, only used to get him to do more with his life.
What Tyler did to Raymond was an example of deviance working as a positive for society. Although threatening someone's life is illegal and deviant, his intententions for doing it were good and helped Raymond. Tyler holding the gun to Raymond's head and saying he will die made Raymond think about his life and made him appreciate it more. Raymond was able to enjoy every aspect of his life and get back on track to becoming a vet. If Tyler had not used the gun, Raymond would not be pursuing his dream and not benefiting from it and not becoming an active member of society.
