I believe that the 3 categories are outdated, because now we are a more diverse race. as we said in class we are now a "tossed sallad" and not a melting pot. These 3 categories may work out for some people but mostly people can be categorized into 2 of the categories instead of only one. I think they should definitely be changed because their not right, in my opinion. I think they should be changed because also its putting a person in one category which we should not be doing, if you actually go in depth it may be a type of prejudice or discriminating. For example i cant be put in only one of these categories because im a bit of the caucasiod characteristics and a bit of mongoloid characteristcs. Therefore, i believe its too outdated and they shouldnt use it anymore.
I believe that the three categories of races are outdated because nowadays many of o8ur races are very diffrent. Due to intercacial marriages. Back the many people would only marry people from the same race but today it is diffrent.Its just like saying the "tossed salad we are all diffrent but are place in the same place.I think they should change the these three categories because they deffinetly are false. Not every black person has wool like hair and are dark. Not every white person has wavy hair,and not every asian person it yellow. This can be sterotyoping if you really think about it.
Yes I do believe the three categories of face classifications are outdated. For example, hispanics can be classified as multiple categories. I think this is unneccessary and people do not to be distinguished this way. Society is already distinguished based on race and minority groups. People are unaware of these classifications. Also, when you fill out a job application or a test to specifiy what race or minority group you are, these classifications are never used. Therefor, they are not needed.

I believe that the 3 categories of Race Classifications are definitely outdated. In today's society we are much more diverse than we were back when these classifications were discovered. There are interracial people who do not fall into one category and also many races that do not fit into those categories (Hispanics, Middle Eastern decent, etc...). These classifications should definitely be changed. They are overgeneralizing todays different races and many races do not fight the criteria for just one category or maybe any category. Since our society's diversity is expanding so should our classifications.
i trhink that the 3 catergories are outdated becasue there is so much variation between races now that i dont think you can put them all into 3 specified categories. i think back then people might have seen it as there are 3 basic categories but now i really dont think its enough to say white's fit under this category, blacks under this one etc. i think there has to be an expansion of that becasue we learned that america is made up of so many great cultures and unique races, 3 just isnt enough.
I do believe that the 3 classifications of race are outdated since not every race falls under the characteristics. When looking at specific people such as famous actress Jennifer Lopez, we see specific characteristics such as tan skin and wavy hair but that doesn't fall under any of the 3 classifications. The 3 categories are too specific and the block out many of the races.
I believe that the 3 categories are outdated because as said before today's society is way too diverse to only have three categories. They are people who may not fit the categories or may fit more then one hence forth i believe that these are outdated and should be revised to fit society today.
I personally don't feel that the three categories of Race Classifications are outdated, and should not be changed. To be honest there are so many different types of races that it would just are ridiculous for each one to have its own classification. It would not make things easy for Anthropologists if there were fifty different classifications. The way we have now is simple, while although there are defiantly certain races that could be considered for both groups, there is usually a way to fit them into one. I don’t want to sound ignorant, but I don’t think it matters that much, and changing it will just make things more complicated.
I think that these classifications are outdated. While America may have becoming of tossed salad of ethnicity's, I think that we have become a melting pot of races. It is more socially acceptable now then ever for people to be born of multiple races. This means that the classifications will become harder and harder to apply to people because when a Caucasoid and negroid person have a child that child will have feature that fit into both categories. This classifications would work perfectly if people from separate country still had distinct differences but I feel that we are moving in a direction that will have more people that fit into at least two, maybe all three of the categories then people who only fit into one of the categories.
Although I believe that the three major categories only promote more discrimination and racism, I do not believe they are outdated. People can still be easily placed into one or the other. There will always be the exceptions to the rule who cannot be so easily placed, but I would say it is easy to label maybe 90% or more of the population. I do not believe that they should be changed.
I think that the three classifications used to identify people are not outdated. I feel that anyone can be assigned to one of these three categories based on their physical traits. Even if a person is, for example, half black and half white, they can be assigned to one of the categories. It really goes on a person to person basis and how they look. In other words, you should assign each individual person to a group and not their whole race. I think that every single person in the world fits into one of these categories. If it has worked in the future, I don't see why it can't work now. That is why I think that they should be kept the same.
I believe that the 3 categories are definitely outdated because now we are a more diverse race in our society as of right now. I feel that we definitely should not just categorized different people into different categories. The reason why I say this is because not everyone could fit into these categories. You have blacks people that are really light. Or a really good example is me. I am Puerto Rican but I have more of the medium skin color. But then on the other hand I have my grandma where she looks completely white, she had the white hair, but she is completely Puerto Rican. So what I’m pretty much saying is that I feel like the three categories are real outdated, because you just cant place someone in one category just because of the three they have. I think they should definitely be changed.
I feel that the 3 race classifications are outdated. I think this because not everyone has each characteristic for each classification. For example, a mongaloid might have hair like a negroid, or caucasoid. I feel that these characteristics fit people, but not so much individuals. I don't believe that these are necesarry to use amoung identification. I think we should stick with ethnic backgrounds to know what someone is.
I believe that the 3 categories of classifications are outdate because for one we as a culture are made up of many things and it wouldn't be right to hold a person to a classification that doesn't fully describe them as an individual. Such as each person that looks white classifies as white no matter if they are German, British, Italian, & ect. As well as any dark skinned person is classified as black no matter if they are African American, Native American, Virgin Islander, & ect. And the same with Asians who could me anything from Chinese to Japanese to Veitnamese. Putting people in these 3 categories is an offense to their culture and takes away from their individuality. It also gives other's a set mind set of how they perceive the classified races and it contributes to many forms of prejudice and discrimination.
